The Island of Dr. Moreau (Abstract)

The Island of Doctor Moreau Abstract Poem by Michael Wheatley

‘The Island of Dr. Moreau’ by H. G. Wells.
Read this book on holiday in Gran Canaria, absolutely loved it.
Island reading for my island trip.

The Island of Dr. Moreau

A shipwrecked man was once not shipwrecked, but actually on a racist boat. Here, the half-monkey men looked alien, and nobody could bear to look. They arrived on an island, ran by a doctor, and the hero met up with his friend. The island is a zoo of anthro-animal hybrids. The doctor dies, as does the friend. The hero finds a volcano or stream. He survives, maybe by screaming, and becomes king of the anthro-animal kingdom. But the cheetah-leopard-man isn’t happy. He tries to kill the king; I can’t remember if he wins. The shipwrecked man is cast adrift as he tries to find his way home.
